What a wonderful example of traditional Berber weaving. Handwoven in Tunisia, these symbolic patterns have been used throughout the history of Berber design, usually depicting a personal story of the weaver or signifying a ritual amongst the community.
A beautifully oversized vintage Kelim rug which has been traditionally flat-woven. Designed with intricate symbols in naturally dyed orange, olive green, pinks, and cream with striking outlines of reds, purples, charcoal and cream. You can really see the effort in the detail on this one and we are so glad to have found her in prime condition after half a century of life. One is for the collectors!
Each Berber rug has been sustainably made with raw materials to create durability to be used for many years, using the same traditional techniques that have been past down from generation to generation throughout antiquity.
